Steven Dale Taylor

Steven Dale Taylor, 53, of Chicago, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away on March 6, 2023 at his home in Chicago. A devastating loss, Steven had a smile that could light up the world. 

Steven Dale was born in Pinckneyville on May 31, 1969 to loving parents Phyllis Leggans and Bruce Taylor. He immediately filled the lives of those around him with an unforgettable joy. Steven always believed in living life to the fullest. He loved boating, great music- his favorite being AC/DC, and making memories with friends and family, whom Steven would do anything for. Making everyone who knew him laugh, cry, and clap at all the memories shared. Steven attended Pinckneyville High School. After graduation, he went on to a career as a Mechanic for the past 30+ years.

Steven was a loving son, brother, partner, uncle and friend. His presence is, and will continue to be sorely missed.

Steven is preceded in death by his father- Bruce Taylor, Sr.; grandparents- Pauline Taylor, Benjamin Taylor, Newbern Leggans, and Blanche Leggans.

Steven is survived by his mother- Phyllis Leggans; brother- Bruce Taylor, Jr.; sister- Cindy Taylor-Shain; nieces- Mandy Franklin, Shelby Taylor, and Zoey Taylor; nephew- Dalton Franklin; great nephews- Richard Trexler, Jeremiah Murry, Terrance Franklin; and great niece- Tianna Longshore. He is also survived by his partner- Heather; her children- Tori Miller, Jeffery Miller, and Tommie (John) Hall and their son, JC.

Memorial services to celebrate Steven's life will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene; 1111 South Washington Street; Du Quoin, IL 62832. Rev. Larry Barnhart will officiate. Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home in Du Quoin is assisting the family with final arrangements.
