Rev. Donald Ray Phillips, age 77, of Du Quoin, danced joyously down the golden streets to meet his Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Donald passed away at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon at 1:38pm.
Donald was born in Du Quoin on June 27, 1945, the son of Rowie (Phillips) and Robert Issac. He married JoAnn (Gibbs) Moore in Paducah, Kentucky on February 6, 1998. Together, they shared more than twenty-five years of marriage.
Rev. Donald Phillips proudly pastored and ministered various churches throughout Southern Illinois. He was a member of the First Apostolic Church of Zeigler. He enjoyed hunting, playing guitar, and singing. Don cherished time with his wife and family, but most of all, he loved his Lord.
Survivors include his wife- JoAnn (Gibbs) Moore-Phillips; her sons- Jack Moore and Jody (Amanda) Moore and their children- Dalton and Tyler Moore; daughter- Christina (Rob) Robinson, son- Dwayne ( Leslie) Phillips, son- William (Angel) Phillips, daughter- Julie Phillips; grandchildren- Dezirae, Travis, Kelsie, and Nora Phillips, and Christopher, Heather, and Dustin Allen; many great grandchildren; six half-sisters; and one half-brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one half brother.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Old Du Quoin Cemetery with Pastor Jason Todd officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
