Paula Jean Hacker, age 62, of Du Quoin, passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, at 2:18pm on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at her home, with her loving family at her side.
Paula was born in Du Quoin on August 17, 1960, the daughter of Mary Alice (King) and Paul Cavitt, Jr. Earlier in life, she married Donald Ridgeway, and he preceded her in death. She later married Mark Anthony Hacker in Du Quoin on August 29, 1997, and he survives.
Mrs. Hacker was a baptized member for 37 years of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's witnesses. Paula was a home care worker for many people. She loved crafting, being outdoors, photography and spending time with her family.

Daughter- Alisha (Samuel) Finney of Pinckneyville
Step-Son- Corey Hacker of Carbondale
Step-Daughter- Rachel Myers of Carbondale
Seven Grandchildren- Apollo, Parker, Trey, Mya, Natalee, Miles, and Erin
Brother- Allen Cavitt of Dowell
Brother- Bryan (Lisa) Cavitt of Du Quoin
Brother- Robert Cavitt of Du Quoin
Sister- Sue (Jeff) Fairbanks of Christopher
Father-in-law- Ted Hacker, Sr. of Hurst
She was preceded in death by her father- Paul Cavitt, Jr., her first husband- Donald Ridgeway, and her brother- Dennis Cavitt.
As per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Final arrangements are pending at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Service details will be updated here as they become available.
