Patrick Alfred Longshore

Patrick Alfred Longshore was born January 9, 1943, in Du Quoin, Illinois, the son of Ada Mae (Patton) and George Willard Longshore. Pat’s family moved to Houston, Texas when he was a young boy. He traveled back and forth between Texas and Illinois throughout the years. As a young man, Pat began working on construction jobs and building sites. He continued to work in construction and did different jobs through the years, a trade he was exceptionally talented at. Pat eventually settled in Du Quoin, Illinois where he lived until his death.

Pat loved his friends, family, children, and fur babies. His favorite times were spent working with his buddy Rick and drinking coffee with friends at the local McDonald’s. He attended church at Du Quoin UPC where he would listen to God’s word, and it was written upon his heart.

Pat fought an incredible fight from the start of the new year with a broken leg, surgery, and cancer. He passed away peacefully in the early hours of February 18, 2024. 

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ada Longshore; brothers: George Longshore, Jr., Connie Urbanek, and Paul Urbanek, and sister Louise Sneed.

Pat is survived by his children: Christy, Michael, Patrick, Ada, and Chris; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and also many friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Du Quoin UPC (1311 S. Washington Street; Du Quoin, IL 62832). Reverend Dan McKinnies will officiate.
