Patricia Gail (Bark) Sudzus

Patricia Gail Sudzus, age 78, of Du Quoin, passed away peacefully at her home in Du Quoin on Friday, October 20, 2023.

Patricia was born in Chicago on September 5, 1945, the daughter of Rudolph and Margaret (Russell) Bark. She married John Frank Sudzus, Jr in Chicago on May 1, 1965. He preceded her just five short days prior to her passing. 

A loving mother and faithful wife for more than fifty-seven years, Patricia was a homemaker. She loved her family and Sunday night dinners, holidays, and all the summer barbeque gatherings. An avid league bowler and school bus driver, Patricia was also the mother who served as den mother for Boy Scouts. She had a variety of hobbies and interests including watching scary movies and soap operas, listening to oldies music, garage sale hunting and thrift store bargain shopping, keeping large fish aquariums, growing house plants, puzzles, and always keeping occupied with reading, playing bingo, cards, and Yahtzee. 

Survivors include daughter- Deborah Jean (Carmen) Vercillo of Elmhurst; son- Michael Anthony (Melissa) Sudzus of Ormond Beach, Florida; daughter- Jennifer Lynn Sudzus of Du Quoin; daughter- Rebecca Louise (Gary) Schulze of Highland; eleven grandchildren- Michelle Crystal, Jacklyn Renee, Dana Marie, Michael John, Erik John, Anna Therese, Kristyna Amber, Alec Robert, Lily Jane, Alicia Renee, and Jax Weston; ten great-grandchildren- Carson James, Brandon Michael, Hayden Edward, Nathan John, Aiden Robert, Austin Joseph, Alexander Stephen, Mason Ryan, Kayden Joe, and Tori Ann; sisters- Barbara Jean Karpas and Louise Marie LaFrancis; nieces and nephews- Maggie Richter, Roberta Bucasas, Jeannie Karpas, Cherie Herron, Christine Gainey, Kevin LaFrancis, and Kim Pitts; many great nieces and great nephews; and a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, and kinfolk in Wisconsin whom she also adored. 

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son- John Eric Sudzus, sister- Betty Lynn Kranz, and niece- Diane Silverio.

Funeral services, held jointly with her loving husband, will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home (11 South Hickory Street; Du Quoin, IL 62832). Family and friends are invited for a time of visitation from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home.  A funeral reception for the family will be held at the funeral home following the services, serving as a time for the family to come together to celebrate and remember the precious lives of Patricia and John.
