Mary Louise (Scott) Olmsted

Mary Louise Olmsted, age 78, of Elkville, passed away peacefully at 12:06am on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Fairview Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Du Quoin.

Mary was born in Napoleon, Ohio on September 2, 1944, the daughter of Stanage Asa and Adolee Ilene (Mitchell) Scott.

Prior to her retirement, Mary had worked in housekeeping at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. In her earlier years, she had worked at Phelps-Dodge.  Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughter- Lana Carlene (Jack) Skelcher of Herrin; son- Dale Alan (Loretta) Olmsted of Dowell; son- Darin Laine Olmsted of Elkville; daughter- Coriss Louise Murray of Sparta; grandchildren- Caleb, Colton, and Casey Skelcher; Cierrah and Tyler Olmsted; Skylar and Dalton Olmsted; AJ and Aiden Fowler; and Ford Kerkhoff; sister- Nancy Belovich of Ohio.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brother- Wayne Scott, and sister- Ruth Barr.

A time of visitation will be held from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Elkville Christian Church located at 114 S. 2nd Street in Elkville, IL 62932. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Elkville Christian Church with Pastor Gary Pruitt and Brother Ron Kreid officiating. Burial will follow at the Elkville Cemetery.
