Lowell E. Mitchell

Lowell S. Mitchell, age 88, of Coulterville, passed away peacefully at 7:18am on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Lowell was born in DuQuoin on August 21, 1934, the son of Harvey S. and Hilda Marie (Mohr) Mitchell. He married Darlene Marie Heine in Pinckneyville on March 19, 1954. She survives in Coulterville.

A farmer by trade, Lowell worked hard all of his life.

Survivors include his wife- Darlene Marie Mitchell of Coulterville; son- Lloyd A. Mitchell of Coulterville; daughter- Vivian (Carl) Hubler of Coulterville; four grandchildren- Brandon A. (Jennifer) Mitchell of Coulterville, Christopher L. (Taryn) Mitchell of Pinckneyville, Ashley S. Mitchell of Pinckneyville, and Tosha Gladson of Coulterville; ten great grandchildren- Rylee Mitchell, Blake Mitchell, Ryder Mitchell, Jaxon Parker, Gavin Fee, Cooper Mitchell, Weston Mitchell, Ivaley Mitchell, Brayson Mitchell, and Kennedi Bierman.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and his young son- Alvin Lee Mitchell.

As per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of remembrance and celebration of Lowell's life. The time of visitation will be held from 1:00pm-4:00pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Winkle Baptist Church (2737 IL-13, Coulterville, IL 62237).  Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home in Du Quoin is assisting the family with final arrangements. 

For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Winkle Baptist Church or the Cottom Cemetery of Denmark, Illinois. Envelopes will be available and accepted at the services at the church or by mail to: Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home; 11 S. Hickory Street; Du Quoin, IL 62832.
