Howard Lashley Gushwa

Howard Lashley Gushwa, age 84, of Du Quoin, passed away peacefully at 12:58pm on Monday, December 20, 2021 at his home in Du Quoin.

Howard was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Theodore R. and Bertha Mae (Hann). He married Kathryn Louise Lewis in Apache Junction, Arizona on April 14, 2001. She survives in Du Quoin.  Prior to moving to Du Quoin, Howard was a long-time resident of Wilcox, Arizona.

Howard had worked as a construction engineer. He was a Korean War Veteran, having proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife- Kathryn Louise "Kitty" (Lewis) Gushwa of Du Quoin

Son- Ronald Gushwa and wife Annette of Sunbury, Ohio

Daughter- Lourie Harrington and husband William of Henderson, Nevada

Daughter- Lisa Lloyd-Walters and husband John of Las Vegas, Nevada

Son- Michael Moore and wife Beth of Du Quoin

Son- Daniel Moore and wife Brenda of Denver, Colorado

Thirteen Grandchildren

Twenty Great Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son- Ricky Gushwa.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, December 31, 2021 at the Elkville Cemetery with the Rev. Dan McKinnies officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the Du Quoin VFW and American Legion Posts with assistance from the United States Army National Guard Funeral Honors Detail Team.
