Greg Jason DeFord, age 47, of Tamaroa, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 1:39 pm surrounded by his wife and daughters at St. Louis University Hospital, after an unforeseen medical emergency.
Greg was born August 27, 1976 to Jack and Janet (Harr) DeFord. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and tending to his horses. A man of Christian faith, he was devoted to the Lord, his family, and his friends.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Missie (Haywood) DeFord; his daughters, Ambrielle DeFord Padget (Evelio Garcia) and Kiera (Grady) DeFord Dunihoo; grandchildren, Adalyn Padget, Khloe Dunihoo, Wesley Padget, and Kinsley Dunihoo; sisters, Becki (Jeff) DeFord Tucker and Shari DeFord Elder; sister-in-law, Lisa Randolph DeFord; nieces and nephews, Levi and Mya (JoJo) Tucker, Cole and Hunter DeFord, and Jena Elder; and his mother and father-in-law, Tom and Linda Haywood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Janet, and his brother, Ed DeFord.
A time of visitation will be held at the First Christian Church (213 West Randolph Street; Pinckneyville, IL 62274) in Pinckneyville on Tuesday September 26, 2023, from 3:00-6:00 p.m., immediately followed with a Celebration of Life at 6:00 p.m. Levi Tucker will be officiating the service. Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home in Du Quoin is honored to have been entrusted to serve the family.
