Brett McClanahan Obituary

Brett Wade McClanahan, age 37, of Du Quoin, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, February 19, 2024, after a tragic accident. 

Brett was born in Du Quoin on August 22, 1986, the son of Marian Fay (Scronce) and the late William Edward McClanahan.  Brett honorably served our country, alongside his brother,  in the United States National Guard during Operation Iraqi Freedom. After his discharge, he worked at the Gilster-Mary Lee Corporation and the Italian Village in Carbondale. He was a handyman, who enjoyed various jobs. Brett's work can be seen still today in the beer garden he helped build at Italian Village. He loved his family and children. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his mother- Marian McClanahan-Wiseman of Du Quoin; daughter- Kansas Wiswell of Du Quoin, son- Evan Wade McClanahan of Du Quoin, daughter- Nevaeha McClanahan of Du Quoin, daughter- Neriah McClanahan of Du Quoin, and the children's mother- LaChelle Wiswell of Du Quoin; son- Hunter Erb-McClanahan and Hunter's mother- Tanya Erb of Du Quoin; granddaughter- Delilah Grace; brother- William Evan McClanahan of Carbondale; sister- Bonnie Kay McClanahan; aunt- Kate (Larry) Tittle of Benton; aunt- Julieanna Gillette-Cross of Du Quoin; aunt- Carol (Jackie Dale) Walters of Du Quoin; uncle- Bob (Kathy) McClanahan of Dowell; uncle- John Pat McClanahan of Missouri; uncle- Tommy McClanahan of Du Quoin; several nieces and nephews; and many friends he cherished.

Brett was preceded in death by his father- William Edward McClanahan; his maternal grandparents- Marion and Joeanna Scronce; and his paternal grandparents- William and Nancy McClanahan. 

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home (11 South Hickory Street in Du Quoin). A time of visitation will be held from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home. Family and friends are encouraged to gather and share in a time of fellowship and fond memories.  

The family requests memorial donations be made to Brett's funeral care fund at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home, to help the family with Brett's unexpected final expenses.  To make an online donation, click the donation tab on Brett's obituary page. All payments will go directly to the funeral home to help the family in their time of such loss. Envelopes will also be available and accepted at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home; 11 S. Hickory Street; Du Quoin, IL 62832.
